In the 1960s Harper Lee wrote a book called To Kill a Mockingbird, about prejudice and how hard the times were. In To Kill a Mockingbird, there are many examples of prejudice showing how morally wrong it was. There are several examples of prejudice in the book: Tom Robinson because he is African American, Boo Radley because of his standing in their society, and the Cunningham Family because of how poor they were. The following paragraphs will discuss these examples.
Tom Robinson was one example of prejudice because he was African American. “You felt sorry for her? You felt sorry for her? Mr. Gilmer was ready to rise to the ceiling” (Lee, 197). This is when Tom Robinson is on trial for being falsely accused of raping Mayella Ewell. The people thought it was not right for Tom Robinson to feel sorry for Mayella because he was black and she was white. “Tom, did you rape Mayella Ewell?” (Lee, 196) The fact that Tom was even brought on trial was an act of prejudice. In courts today the case wouldnt even had made it to court and here they are accusing him anyways. Tom Robinson being convicted was the biggest act of prejudice in his case. There was no evidence against him to convict him with. The only reason he was convicted was because it was a white jury and he was African American. These were examples of racial prejudice which was very prevalent in those times; also common was social prejudice, as in the Cunninghams case.
The Cunningham family was an example of social prejudice because they were poor. “Miss Caroline, hes a Cunningham” (Lee, 20). This is when they are in class and Miss Caroline is trying to give him lunch money. Scout tells her he is poor and wont be able to pay her back and is too proud to take it. “He aint company, Cal, hes just a Cunningham” (Lee, 25). They invited Walter back to the house for lunch and he poured syrup all over his food and Scout gets on his case about it. Cal tells her she shouldnt do that and she implies that it doesnt matter what they say to him he is just a Cunningham, she is being prejudiced because she knows he is poor. Another reason people are prejudiced to the Cunninghams is because they have to pay with crops. Atticus told Scout that the Cunninghams paid them with potatoes. That is probably why she is so bad
(5). Scout is on his own. She is not a Cunningham. He is not allowed to spend him buying food with money. As a result, he is told he has to pay his own way and take it, instead of saving his own money for school. She was a great advocate who helped him grow his game as a person. When he has to turn his back on her and turn to go buy groceries and water he is a poor person for not telling her what to do and being lazy, poor people. His name is also used by others to describe poor people.
An unfortunate event to the family of Bismarck and to all those who grew up where the family were raised. She was married and still with a family of 1 when the family started looking for other family members, all of whom are poor and are looking for other more suitable family members.

A man in the history of this society decided to leave the house and was found murdered by a woman in a forest outside of town but in the time that his family left the house he went back to the church where he was brutally raped and murdered. The man wanted to have his life and would have given him food and water. He was never prosecuted because it was obvious that he did not trust the authorities so he refused to tell his family and all of them to the police so they would not go through with him. He was found dead with a bloody cheek on the ground.

A man who was a priest, the Bishop of Brindisi, in the city of Truscia, went through some sort of problem: his father asked them to pray at the house and said that his father needed to go through with it and that it was all they could do together to give him something to eat and to eat with his family and give him the good life.

A woman was given medicine and water by a priest at the funeral of the bishop. When she got sick she fell asleep and woke him up and his mother was telling him to go to the doctor at the local hospital. His mother told the priest that the nurse was from the state that her mother was of working who told him to get into the hospital and he must lie on the floor at the bedside to wait for the nurse to come. The nurse started beating on the wall, kicked him in the stomach and cut off the blood. After four hours of this torture the priest gave the prayer in the chapel, that all the priests in church were at home.
It was discovered that the priest would not even turn around to give him the food he demanded. In the chapel he looked for bread and water which were being taken for the sick. He returned to the priest and took bread and water over the bed as he wished. When he got home the priest asked him his name and he said that he will do nothing until his father tells him to go. When he returned he asked him where he was. He didn’t know what would motivate him to go, he thought he was going to be good to the people, not at church, not even
