Adoption of Innovation: Cloudmize Case

Alex Belyus, Colin Thompson, Eduardo Santana, Shutong LinDr. Michael RiveraSGM 5126April 3, 2016Cloudamize CaseStrengths: Cloudamize is a company that uses data and analytics to assist organizations interested in making the transition into cloud based computing. Many companies are unaware of how cloud computing works and whether or not it would be beneficial to their industry. Cloudamize offers three products to help customers get the most out of their cloud computing investment: assessing their position, planning for the client to make the jump into cloud computing, and finally, managing the transition once it has been made. Cloudamize has two different revenue streams associated with each of these products. Their biggest strength comes from the “management” product that they offer. The management product is invaluable to Cloudamize as it provides them a recurring monthly fee for monitoring a client’s cloud computing and providing that client with the analytics of the system.Another strength for Cloudamize has to do with their strategic partnerships. They have joined forces with the three largest cloud computing providers on the market: Microsoft, Amazon, and Google. Anyone reaching out to one of these companies for their cloud services now has an indirect connection to Cloudamize. These partners refer clients to Cloudamize if they are having trouble understanding how they should be maximizing cloud computing for their firm or whether or not they should invest in the technology in the first place.
While it could be seen as limiting, Cloudamize has found strength in seeking out specific customers. Cloudamize typically does not work with small businesses as they have found the effort is not worth the return. They typically want to work with businesses that have 100 machines or more that they would be monitoring. They also do not do government work. There are too many regulations and too much red tape that make working with government clients a headache. The fact that Cloudamize is able to limit their customer base allows for them to create a product that does not have to be all encompassing. They are able to focus on the beachheads of their choosing.Weakness:One of the biggest weaknesses that Cloudamize faces is that they do not implement the products that they plan for. Their service asseses the potential for cloud computing for a client, and will even help them plan for it. However, when the time comes for that customer to actually transition to cloud computing, the best Cloudamize will do is recommend a company that will assis in the firm’s transition. Cloudamize has done research and thinks it is best that they let other companies do the heavy lifting. This may deter potential clients from using Cloudamize’s service, and they may choose a competitor that will see their project through until the end.
