Learning in Classroom
I have completed 6 hours of service learning and from these experiences so far I have come to realize that teaching is extremely difficult. Every student is different from each other; their determination and abilities to learn are also different. Ultimately I have learned that patience is a virtue and you can never give up on a student. The children really look up to myself and other students and are always excited to see us, regardless if the excitement actually gets put to use and concentrate positively on work. I am fortunate enough to be teaching with younger children and am realizing that its extremely difficult and time consuming, I admire teachers and their ability to teach children no matter what circumstances are in the way.
Sitting in the 3rd grade classroom I find myself becoming extremely frustrated with their behavior and their ability to want to learn. Most of them just act like class clowns and dont even try while others around them are trying extremely hard. I sympathize for the teacher that has enough patience to work with students that dont seem like they want to learn and just want to play all day. I find myself sitting in between students and separating students from others when they wont stop misbehaving. But not all children are like this. Out of a handful of 25 students about 7 were actually good students that werent goofing off and seemed like they wanted to learn. The popular girls and the class clown boys always want to talk and always feel that they are always right. I guess it might be the age but its extremely hard to work with.
Unlike 3rd grade, reading with Pre-schoolers is probably the most invigorating experience I have had at Melman. They are so excited to learn and are extremely patient with me. They always want to sound out words and read for themselves and when they dont know how to read a word they will ask me and ask to use it in a sentence. They are absolutely adorable
