This book falls under several genres such as young adult and science fiction This book takes place in modern day Ohio were Cassie, her younger brother Sam, and her parents live. One day a spaceship appears and throws the whole world in to chaos and speculation many such as Cassie’s father suspect that they come with good intentions but after 10 days of isolation everyone becomes nervous. Suddenly one day at school the electricity go’s out the whole grid gone this is the first wave a EMP electromagnetic pulse on a global scale knocks the whole world back to the stone ages. This was just the start then came the second wave earth quakes and natural disaster including massive tsunamis. The third wave a plague that wiped out more than 97% of the remaining survivors. Then rolled around the forth wave a group of super humans with snipers put there to not only exterminate the human race but to also make other humans un trustable. Just as the 3rd wave was coming to a slow Cassie’s mother passed away. Left with only her brother and father they moved and looked for Wright-Patterson Air Force Base that had legged electricity and weapons. While on their way the stumbled upon a camp of survivors where they take refuge for few months when suddenly, the military shows up to rescue them loading up all children her including her brother Sam on busses then driving away to come back later but just as the kids leave. The military blows up the whole camp and kills her father and everyone in it she just barley manages to get away and decides that the she will stop at nothing to get her last family member back.
