Christianity shares many beliefs and practices with other religions such as Jews and Muslems. All three believe that there us only one God who created the Universe and everything around them. All three of these religions are called “Ethical Monotheism”. This is because it means the belief in one God, and following this God makes people also follow certain rules or ways of life. Christianity first was a part of Judaism. Jesus was a Jew. He lived from about 3 BC to 30 AD. He lived and taught in Palestine, primarily among fellow Jews. However Christianity separated from the main religion of Judaism because Christians regarded Jesus as gods presence in human form. Christianity is “a monotheistic system of beliefs and practices based on the Old Testament and the teachings of Jesus, and emphasizing the role of Jesus as savior. The collective body of Christians throughout the world and history.” Christianity This is the textbook definition of what Christianity is. Seems simple enough but no where near what Christianity really is. Christianity is having a relationship with Jesus, in which lived, died, and was resurrected because of the love he had for us humans. He wanted to wash away our sins, so that we can have a chance to go to heaven. Christianity is a set of beliefs, a way of life you lead, and its a group of people who are held close together. All three of these aspects are based around the teachings of Jesus. Christians believe in the powerful words that are held in the Bible. The Bible is important because the teachings that are held inside are the ultimate source of knowledge about God, and the way Christians should lead their lives.
