Nationalism – Position Paper
The Source is saying that Nationalism, a feeling of love, devotion and loyalty to a nation is spreading all around the world and influencing every individual in different ways with the “aggressiveness that spares no one”. People are already struggling to adapt the freedom they got years ago and nationalism is making individuals more like slaves than a free independent person. Nationalism is just a new way to make people follow their leaders and live according to their rules and regulations.
The perspective presented in the source illustrate the negative view of nationalism. Nationalism is taking away the civil rights of the people by its unstoppable force. It has more disadvantages for an individual than the advantages. It can have a huge impact on a person’s quality of life. Another perspective about the source is a positive viewpoint. It states that nationalism helps leaders or dictators to grow their country’s economy and take it to the another level.
We should fully embrace the perspective of the source and consider the negative viewpoint presented in it because nationalism is a wave that completely took away an individual’s civil rights, led to a great economic depression all around the world and leaders took advantages to fulfill their desires of controlling an empire.
Civil rights are given to everyone since the day they were born and they cannot be offended. Nationalism destroyed people’s common rights and made them made them helpless.
