The area that I chose is intimate relationships. Its an area that can have its ups and downs, but is a perfect for this topic. Its also an area that I am well-schooled in from past experiences and people watching.

Loneliness and rejection can happen fairly easily in intimate relationships. Rejection can happen to a person who is perceived as generally not attractive. As a result of that rejection, loneliness can quickly set in as a person goes from rejection to rejection.

Loneliness can set in in a relationship if one of the people hasnt fully grown up and is still in their partying stage while the other is ready to settle down and start a family and whatnot. Theyd rather hang out with friends and party than to hang out with their significant other and thats where the rejection kicks in. Soon after that, if things dont change, loneliness will set in.

Loneliness could also set in if one person in a relationship doesnt feel like the other is all in. The texting, leaving the room to take certain phone calls, all of that can cause loneliness in an intimate relationship. If things keep on that track, that will lead to loneliness on both sides as things will disintegrate and the relationship is all but over.

The type of person who is most likely to wind up lonely would be those who dont go out often or more homebodies or people of that sort. They typically dont have a lot of friends already and a lot of the time, prefer to keep it that way.

Those who are jerks or are perceived to be unattractive are the most likely to be rejected. The jerks might be attractive looks wise, but are only out for one thing and a lot of people frown on that behavior and that makes them unattractive. The unattractive, well that says enough.

Effects of loneliness could result in alcoholism/drug problems amongst other things. Other effects would include bad temperament, worse diets than usual, depression, thoughts of hurting themselves or others amongst other things.

Ways to get through social rejection include stepping out of your comfort zone, doing things that you wouldnt normally do. Or maybe a makeover is in order if those previous things dont work.
