Change Analysis- Vision

The organization that will be discussed in the Vision Analysis Paper will be DeVry University. Although DeVry University may already have a vision statement, mission statement, and strategy statement, I will attempt to develop a new set of statements that align with my opinions and ideas of what the organization should or could use. In addition to developing the three statements, I will also talk about how these statements can be used to drive change and how these statements can put limits on an organization when it comes to change.
DeVry University is a market-funded educational institution that has recently been forced to change some of its standard operating procedures due to external forces and industry changes. Some of those changes have resulted not necessarily in a complete change in the vision or mission of DeVry University, but have affected the strategy and some of the other areas of DeVry.
DeVrys vision should be written to send a message to internal and external employees. DeVry has recently made a move into international business and the vision statement should include all entities within DeVry University. DeVry University focuses on careers, applications based curriculum, and student focus, and flexibility. The statement could hinder change if other external forces prevent DeVry from being able to operate worldwide.
DeVrys mission statement needs to be something that relays the message of why DeVry exists and what DeVrys purpose is. DeVrys mission statement would be “We change the direction of peoples lives.” The mission statement would be a direct reflection of what DeVry ultimately does and why DeVry has been so successful over its 80 years of existence. The mission statement would assist in driving change by offering a simple but direct statement of why DeVry is DeVry. The mission statement could hinder change if it is misunderstood.
Finally, the strategy statement for DeVry University must be written as well. The strategy statement should speak to the how when referring to the vision statement. DeVrys strategy statement would be “continuing to offer the most student
