AbstractIntroduction: The project focuses on the conceptual framework of a system which combines aknowledge management system (KMS) and mentoring process to develop the professional skills of new university staff to advance in their career. Increasing pressure from the external environment, such as rapidly changing economics, environment, population, as well as advances in science and technology requires higher education to focus on achievement and existence as exemplified by the business sector. During the previous years, the increasing number of universities in response to educational development and policy has led to more competition in the education market and multiple curricula as well as increased demand for resources (e.g. staff, infrastructure, technology.). However, in this decade, global higher education institutions, whether public or private, are facing a number of challenges related to strategies for managing their human resources. Results from this project demonstrate an integrated approach to staff development, which combines a Knowledge Management System and mentoring program.Modules DescriptionModules:Module1: The first module is designed to provide authentication to individuals who wish to get connected. The registration details filled by the user are stored in database. The user can now login to interact with the staff.Module2: Profile creation of the users. Selection of people who are close to retirement and new staff who are to be trained.Module3: Creation of content.Module4: Sharing content.System SpecificationsHardware requirements:Ram : Min 1 GBHard Disk : Min 100 GBSoftware requirements: Operating System : Windows familyTechnology : Java (1.7/1.8) Web Technologies : Html, Html-5, JavaScript, CSS, JSPWeb Server : Tomcat 7/8Database : My SQL5.5System studyExisting System: Many staff retires early at 55-65 years old and also contributes to the lack of professional staff within country’s higher education. While professional staff is retiring, many new staff lack expertise and professionalism and require at least 5-6 years developing professional skills equivalent to those possessed by retiring staff.
