This act forbids an employer to be discriminatory against an individual because of their age with respect to any condition, term, or privilege of employment, including, promotion, hiring, job assignments, training, layoff, compensation, firing, and benefits. The ADEA is applied to a company who has 20 or more employees. If the organization does not follow this law, and a person feels discriminated against then the individual can file a suit against the employer. The court reserves the rights to make the employer give the individual discriminated against benefits and wages in an amount the court believe is appropriate, and suitable due to the discrimination (Age Discrimination: What Employers Need to Know, n.d.).
