I was expected to act and look and hang out with the appropriate kids. The proper kids were the worst kids you could hang around. We were rude and obnoxious and thought that those that parents didn’t make as much money as our parents they were inferior. Stereotyping was huge. If you didn’t have the right clothes or the right car, you weren’t invited to the Parties. Now that I reflect back, it’s strange how prejudiced I was. To judge someone on something that they may have no control over is disgusting. Examine the social, cognitive, and societal origins of prejudice and stereotypes.
