Cracker Barrel Case
Cracker Barrels idea was to be founded upon a concept of “American values” which to them, meant not categorizing the values of homosexuals. Crack Barrels statements and approach towards this situation was handled incorrectly. Cracker Barrels will forever in the minds of some have a stereotypical against them because of their prejudice against the sexual preferences of others.
I do not believe that Cracker Barrel took too large of a hit on this, but certainly did not benefit from their actions either. Ridding them selves of homosexual employees impacted the workforce for the company although they claim that neither their sales nor the stock prices have fallen due to this. Still, once something like this has occurred linked to ones name, the view upon them wont be the same so many customers, maybe even people that were potential customers, have decided to go elsewhere because of the prejudice against ones sexual orientation.
At the end of the day, an employer has to get what they are looking for out of an employee, or what’s the point? Today there are so many issues of this and that, race, gender, sexual orientation; this situation is brought upon by the companies themselves. They have to learn how to diversify the workplace in a well-fashioned and organized manner. The customer at the end of the day comes first, and companies are aware of this. Most customers could care less who they are dealing with as long as what they want is completed in a timely matter and in good quality. A company must learn to grow together and accept people for who they are and sometimes beliefs and feelings outside of the workplace stay out of the workplace, and many people do not bring their problems there to begin with.
