As stated before the debate, “this is the most unpredictable election in our nation’s history,” When it comes to jobs, Trump wants to lower taxes on the wealthy, therefore leading to an expansion of more companies. This will create more jobs. Clinton wants to raise taxes on the wealthy, and use the money to reinvest in the middle class to create more jobs. He also plans to discourage American businesses from outsourcing their companies by placing taxes on the products these businesses wish to sell back into the United States. Trump stated that, “we need to do a much better job at keeping our jobs.” In contrast to Trump’s plan, Clinton plans to create new jobs with rising investments by taking money from the wealthy in order to give back to the middle class. In her words, Clinton wants to create, “strong growth, sustained growth, and fair growth.” Clinton also wants to enforce the trade deals we currently have. Moving on from the debate of our nation’s economy and job grow the candidates discussed on race relations in America and how they relate to policing. Hillary stated that she wants to create better relationships between communities and their police officers. To do so she would provide more government funded police training, and address the systemic racism in our criminal justice system. Clinton also wishes to enforce common sense gun legislation, such as comprehensive background checks and a prohibition for anyone on the terrorist watch list to be able to buy a gun. Contrary to popular belief, Trump agreed with Clinton on many of her stances relating to police relations and gun control. Trump also wants to manifest better relationships between communities and their police officers, and create “law and order.” However, he also wants to re-implement a “stop and frisk” policy for people on the streets. Stop and frisk has been regarded as unconstitutional and racist, however Trump stated that stop and frisk is, in fact, beneficial. He then attributed New York City’s decreasing murder rate. The topic then changed to ISIS and cyber warfare. Trump stated that he wants to get tough on cyber warfare, and that it will pose an immense threat in the future. Trump also went on to say that ISIS would not have been a threat, had Obama’s administration not left a gaping hole in Iraq after the war, and that he had never supported the Iraq war.
