Introduction
This research study is made for the purpose of proving or disproving the widely believed interralation of poor english proficiency and the jejemon way of texting, the presumed connection between the two lead to the press release of the educational department to halt the said trend and thus save students from further blunting their english competency. There have already been previous studies regarding text messaging and poor english proficiency and the results this will yield could serve as a reinforcement in that wide perception,
Background of the study
With the wide availability of text messaging, that it has now almost become a necessity despite the raised questions about its effects on standard literacy, came the studies and criticisms saying that it does affect language profiency in a negative way. But even before the term “jejemon” was coined, there have already been a previous internationally known tem which is the 1337 talk or leet talk, that , like jejemon also utilizes numbers as replacements for certain letters in the alphabet and creates confusing sentences common to text messaging.
This study aims to determine and reinforce whether the use of Jejemon in the fourth year high school students of CNHS is a likely cause for poor english proficiency, otherwise, this study could support alternate claims that the jejemon way of texting is only a passing trend and should not really alarm the academic sector
Statement of the problem: The study will determine how “jejemon” affects the English proficiency of the fourth year high school students of CNHS.

The yields of this study should answer the following questions:
How long have the respondents use “jejemon”?
How often do the fourth year students of CNHS text?
Why do the respondents continue to use “jejemon”?
How aware are they of the said negative effects of “Jejemon”?
What are the other problems that the respondents encountered using jejemon?
What are the driving factors that influence the students to continue or discontinue using jejemon?
How were the respondents influenced by jejemon texting?
Should jejemon be a significant problem to education or not?
