Survey Questionnaire:Do you believe in abortions?Have you ever had an abortion? If so how do you feel after the abortion?Do you regret getting an abortion? If you had an abortion did it effect you mentally or physicallyWhy did you have an abortion?Do you feel that abortions should be up to woman to choose and not the laws of the state?Have anyone close to you had an abortion within the past year?                                                AbortionI decided to interview two ladies on a very controversial topic, which is abortion. My survey questionnaire was eight questions which required a lot of thinking and detailed explanation. During my experience of interviewing these three ladies I came to the conclusion that everyone doesn’t feel the same about abortion. My first interviewee was a person very close to me which is my Aunt. As I began to ask her the survey questions I could tell that this was a very sensitive topic for her. I found out that she had been keeping a secret from our family and that she had an abortion two years ago. Clearly she believes in abortions, she said depending on the situation she will support others that asked her for advice that didn’t make a smart decision to be more careful while having sexual intercourse. She stated that after her abortion, she regretted it and it is something she could never do again. Having an abortion affected her mentally, she shared with me that she still hears baby voices sometimes and how she constantly thinks about her child that she aborted. The next young lady I interviewed was recently pregnant and had a miscarriage. I decided to interview her to see if she had ever had an abortion and to find out if abortion was ever an option for her while she was pregnant. She explained to me that when she found she was pregnant, she was sad and disappointed. An abortion was never an option for her because her parents do not believe in abortions and they raised her upon the same values as them. “ No I wasn’t ready for a baby, but as my mother always stated if you can lay on your back and have one you grown enough to take care of one.”  My last interviewee begins to discuss with me that she does not believe in abortion, although she had one. She stated that it was by force, not because she wanted one. At the time she was eighteen and didn’t have support from her mother. All her friends suggested she get one as well being that her mother didn’t support it. Her mother set up an appointment for her to have an abortion the same day she told her mother she was pregnant. Nykell said and I quote “It was the hardest thing a teenager should not go though” as she explain her pain, tears began to roll from her eyes. This topic was very emotional for her to talk about for a while, it wasn’t until her four days that she accepted the fact she had an abortion and killed her baby. She told me that she found this very serious topic and that she wished she could tell her story to others so they could hear it from someone that had to deal with such a difficult situation that led into a lot of pain emotionally and physically. As of today, Nykell still isn’t comfortable talking to her mom, or anyone about the pain, and stress this abortion caused her. She said “People really do not get the fact that they killed their child until, you see how much pain, and confused you get afterwards and having an abortion isn’t really that bad, it’s the emotional part you have to get over.” This interview I had with these three young ladies really opened up my eyes. I’ve been asked by several friends should they have abortions and I always give them my opinion on it. I do believe in abortions if that’s something the person really wants to do. I have never been pregnant, I don’t know how it truly feels to be pregnant nor have the pressure people to deal with from family and friends. After this interview I will no longer support my friends having abortions, I won’t tell them to do what their parents say. I’ve always felt like however, your parents feel that what you should go along with because they are the ones that take care of you. Abortion should always be the decision of the two people that conceived the child.
