Court Case
The court case I went to was at the Delaware County Media Court House on October 28, 2011 at 2:00pm. It was very interesting; my friend came with me because I was a little nervous going into a court house to observe. When went in there was a little lobby section and after about 10-15 feet there was metal detectors and a police officer to scan everything that you could not walk through the metal detectors with. I had nothing that I had to give to him to keep. The male officer asked us if we needed help. We told him we were just here to observe a case for school so he directed us to the second floor; he told us that there should be an abuse case in room 2. We had to wait about fifteen minutes for the cases to start. When the doors to the room opened everyone went in and sat down. The room was rather large and it felt a little bit like a church setting the public half of the court room. There were about 8 rows of benches in there then they had a little wooden swing gate separating the rest of the court room where they had a section for the jury two large tables for where the defendants would stand. In front of that was what looked like a rather large desk where the court reporters would sit, they had about four different computers, in front of that was the judges desk and it had two jury boxes on either side of him. Behind the judges table was a rather large wooden door and it had a large arch on top of it. On the front side of the room there was a little table with a couple chairs where the bailiffs were sitting, in the beginning there were two males and one woman sitting there. I would say the judge was a late forties early fifties black man that seemed to know what he was doing and most of the cases seemed very easy for him besides the one that I will be discussing. Throughout the case more sheriffs came out because there was a lot of arguments, in the beginning there was only three two young men and a middle aged woman, then as the case progressed about five more sheriffs came out to help out with the disruptions and one of them had a German Shepard canine cop dog. There were about twenty different people in the public half of the court room. It was very hard to hear the cases, at times you could hear people because they were yelling at each other, and other times you could barely hear them at all. I did not see any attorneys while I was there it felt like a civil court case where it was one against the other and the judge as the deciding factor.

The name of the Judge?
The Honorable James Hazel
The name of the DA?
There was no DA it was one against the other
The name of the Public Defender or Private Attorney?
The one defendant Tasha Davis told The Honorable James Hazel that she had an attorney, but he called her early that morning explaining to her that he would not be able to come to court that day, because of a family emergency.

The name of the defendant?
The one defendant was Ms. Tasha Davis. She was a middle aged black woman, she has three children. She does not have a job but collects Welfare from the state.

There was also one of the defendants fourteen year old daughters; I was unable to catch the girls name. She was very quiet and did not get along with her mother. There were at two different tables against eachother.

There was also the fourteen year olds father, Robert Flamin. He was a middle aged black man and seemed very easy going and was there to support his daughter and to do whatever he can to have her stay living with him. He was mostly calm throughout the whole case.

In the end there ended up being one more person out on the floor and that was the young mothers, mother, Ms. Yvanne or Ms. Yvant. She was a black woman I would probably say that she was around the age of early sixties or late fifties. She was not that old. She got into it towards the second half of the case and was helping the father, Robert Flamin and the fourteen year old girl against her daughter Ms. Tasha Davis who was the fourteen year old girls mother.

The sentencing?
The sentencing was extremely confusing
