Pro Same Sex Marriage
Legalizing same sex marriage in the state of New York would make an impact by allowing individuals to make full dedication to their partners that opposite sex couples take for granted. Same sex marriage would also endow economic benefits to the state and city of New York.

In my opinion, the reason why opposite sex couple take their marriage for granted is because it is so easy for opposite sex couple to decide lets get marry and can walk into the courtroom anytime and get marry. Whereas, same sex couples have to fight their way through just to be with the person they love, so to them, marriage is a privilege and the will of commitment. The will of commitment will make same sex couple cherish each other in ways that opposite sex couple cant apprehend.

Economic Impacts of Same Sex Marriage
The reason why legalizing same sex couples can enhance the economy and increase state tax is because base on the Budget Note written by William C. Thompson Jr., in gaymarriageprocon.org. The report he gathered indicate that the impact of same sex marriage would add up to about $142 million in revenue. Since legalizing same sex marriage in NYC, it had brought same sex couples from around the country to come to NYC to get married, therefore brining in revenue for the city. Examples of lucrative revenue that same sex couples spend are: Restaurant, hotel, catering, travel industries, marriage license fee, and court fee. To measure the economic impact of same sex marriage requires identifying how much of that activity generates spending that would not have taken place otherwise. Therefore, all the spending resulting from couples residing outside of the City and State is summarize in the economic impact, whereas only a portion of resident wedding expenses, such as money convey from out-of-town activities, is assumed to be new spending. “If President Obamas endorsement of gay marriage does convince more states to follow suit with full-fledged legislation, it could free up a lot of cash along the way. Thats because gay marriage would be a shot in the arm to the economy, writes Matt Yglesias at Slate. “Weddings are expensive,” Yglesias writes, “so a sudden change in the legal framework would be a shock to economy-wide aggregate spending as a whole bunch of long-standing committed same sex couples rushed to celebrate with friends and family.” (www.huffmanpost.com)

Conclusion
NYC was chosen to be in this debate paper because it is one of the success stories of legalizing same sex marriage. The point of this debate is hoping that all the states can consider making same sex marriage legal in all 50 states to bring unity of two people loving each other regardless of the gender and to help boost the economy in this country.
