Steven Wallace, an American poet once said “To regard the imagination as metaphysics is to think of it as part of life, and to think of it as part of life is to realize the extent of artifice. We live in the mind.”
There are four major philosophical areas of inquiry: Epistemology, logic, metaphysics and ethics. Epistemology focuses on inquiries relating to knowledge. In addition, this particular branch of philosophy explores the foundations, the nature, the limits, and the criteria of knowledge. Metaphysics is the study of being or existence. Unlike the study of epistemology which questions whether knowledge is possible, metaphysics ask what exactly is reality? Metaphysics illustrates the simple element that establishes if the acquired knowledge is real or fiction. Ethics focuses on moral judgment…the values of right and wrong. Similar to Ethics, Logic is the values of correct reasoning, in addition it is considered as the study of the techniques and standards used to differentiate good from bad thinking.
My personal philosophical area of inquiry is Metaphysics. Metaphysics is primarily the fundamental study of all reality…what is it, why it is, and is it possible to find a way to understand it. Metaphysics best describes me because it deals a lot with concepts on a very intellectual level. In addition, I believe that it is the branch of philosophy that is mysterious and relates to concepts such as time and space. Again, Metaphysics ask questions that genuinely interest me such as; What is reality?…What is life?…Who exactly are we? And when you think about it these questions can only be answered by a scientific method, an opinion or by feelings.
