Water — Most Important Resourcea
Water is an essential natural resource to human. We utilize it for different purposes to maintain our living like drinking, washing and irrigation etc. Water is valuable to us but do we treasure it much? I suppose not.
There are many campaigns launched by the green organizations which is about encouraging people to conserve water. It shows that people in Hong Kong waste too much water and they do not aware that there are lots of people, in other parts of the world, face the problem of not enough clean water. For example in the old rural villages of the undeveloped cities in China, there are limited water provided for a large number of residents there. The children have to walk for a long time to the nearest wells to get little amount of water for their families. Even though the water is polluted by the nearby factories which harms their health, they still cherish it much.
Obviously, it is easy for Hong Kong people to use clean and safe water as they only need to open the taps. The water price is also low due to most costs are subsidized by the government. So, the locals use much water unconsciously and then becomes sewage which has to be treated at high costs. The water in Hong Kong is imported from Dong Gung and the amount of water is limited. We cannot consume it recklessly which results in a reduction in the amount of water of the Chinese people as well as our next generation. It is high time for us to change our consumption patterns and lifestyles. There are many ways for us to conserve water such as to support the water conservation activities, to shower instead of using a bath and so on. We can do lots of things to improve the situation and it is our responsibility to create a balanced environment.
