Julius Caesar take home test
A. Brutus- Brutus makes the decision of killing Caesar. He made this choice because he thought that would be the best decision for Rome although he loved Caesar very much unlike the other conspirators. This eventually results in Antony and Octavius taking over and then Brutus kills himself.
B. Cassius- Cassius makes the decision of letting Antony speak at Caesars funeral. Which resulted in the crowd going against the conspirators.
C. Caesar- He made the decision not listening to his wife and the fortuneteller. This resulted in him getting assassinated and Antony taking over.
D. Antony- He makes the decision of being one of the main people to plot the murder of Caesar. He does this out of his own jealousy and wanting to become king. This results in him getting accused by other conspirators.
Marcus Brutus had a noble philosophy. He was part of the conspirators to kill Caesar. He eventually does kill Caesar not because of jealousy but because he thinks this will be best for Rome. He really loved Caesar and shouldnt have done this but he got a little manipulated.
Julius Caesar will always be known as a great general, senator and great military man. He didnt do so well as a king in Rome for a while though. He ignored many people and his own country. He was sometimes worrying about private life more than the country which resulted in him getting killed.
The use of asides and soliloquies are for actors not to be talking to others in the play but only to be known by the audience watching it. One example is Brutus: “That every like is not the same, O Caesar/ The heart of Brutus earns to think upon.” [Act II, Scene 2, Line 128]
4. A tragic hero is someone who is a good protagonist but makes a mistake that usually leads to his defeat. Marcus Brutus is an example of that. He does the mistake of killing one of his own friends, Caesar, and then pays for it. He trust Antony and Cassius which eventually gets him into deep trouble therefore ends up killing himself.
