What is a gentleman?
A genuine gentleman is such a rarity in todays society. A number of things determine a gentleman. Things such as attitude, self-image and respect for others can all be considered determinants of whether or not someone is a gentleman. The definition of a gentleman is a man who is well groomed, well mannered and behaved, altruistic and confident.
It is not very difficult to tell the difference between a gentleman and a man who is not a gentleman. A gentleman is not boorish or unruly. For example, a gentleman would not yell out crude/offensive phrases or words to a fellow man or someone of the opposite sex. A gentleman is neither boastful nor egocentric; he is not conceited and does not attempt to place himself on a pedestal. A gentleman is never dishonest or deceitful; a gentleman will never con or trick anyone in order to impart hurt, harm or danger.
When a gentleman is present, one would certainly know. For a gentleman is a well-groomed man; never will a gentleman be seen unkempt or improper. A gentleman is always dressed appropriately and always looks neat. A gentle maintains integrity at all times. A gentleman lives his life with respectЖrespect not only for his fellow man, but also for himself. Gentlemen are always well mannered and well behaved. For example, the removal of a gentlemans hat when indoors shows a sign of respect and loyalty. Gentleman are always confident in everything that they do. They stand tall and maintain a high self-esteem.
The gentleman is slowly becoming a dying breed of man. In todays societal structure, men are blatantly pressured to be dangerous, rude and arrogant beings. A man whos actions are courteous and respectful are seen as a sordid and appalling. Hopefully, the image of an honorable man will change as society matures and continues to develop.
