Analysis of PoemFigurative SpeechFigurative language means to use a figure of speech, or a way to say one thing while meaning another.  This type of language is usually something that should not be taken serious, more of a playful way of making points.  Figurative language is using metaphors, similes, metonymy, synecdoche, and other words that can describe something without actually using the literal meanings.  Figurative language is simply a way to describe something by comparing it to something else.  Figurative language creates a picture in our heads, which evokes emotion.  Using descriptive words to describe the sun and the water help us to create a vision of what Monet was trying to say with the painting.
