Duncan was born April 25, 1976 in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. Duncan is a 70″, 260 pound forward from St. Duntans Episcopal High School. His parents are William and Ione. He has two sisters whose names are Cheryl and Tricia. Tims goal was to become a swimmer like his older sister Tricia but hurricane Hugo blew his dream away by destroying St. Croixs Olympic size pool. Even though he didnt play basketball until ninth grade, he is one of the worlds premiere basketball stars and is second player in NBA history to be named All-NBA Team and an All-Defensive Team in each of his first four seasons. He leads all players in the NBA in double doubles over the last four seasons and is also currently the leading rebounder in the league. The awards that he received are National Player of the Year, AP Player of the year, The United States Basketball Writers Player of the Year, and the NABC National Defensive Player of the Year. Duncan was the first overall draft pick of the NBA draft in 1997 by San Antonio Spurs.He was selected with the first pick of the 1997 draft and was named NBA Rookie of the Year and 1999 NBA Finals MVP after winning his first NBA Championship with the San Antonio Spurs. Tim was also the 2003 MVP during his second NBA Championship season.

He and his wife Amy were married in the summer of 2001 and, together, they run the Tim Duncan Foundation- which will fund nonprofit organizations in the areas of education, health awareness and research, and youth sports and recreation. Foundation funds will be raised through special events and fundraisers. Over the last five years – through the Tim Duncan Bowling for Dollar$ Charity Bowl-A-Thon – Duncan has raised and donated more than $550,000 for breast and prostate cancer detection, prevention, and treatment. In addition he hosts an annual charity golf tournament in San Antonio.
