After reading the article “The Sons of Heaven: Christianity in China” I was so saddened to hear about how Christians in China are going through various obstacles even persecution because of the communist party. I feel that there should be some law like the laws we have here in the united states that are set to separate church and state. That way the communist party would be able to feel more at ease without having to worry about the Christians taking over and then the Christians wont have to hide who they really are and they would be able to worship freely without living in fear of persecution. It is really nice to see that the Christians in China are willing to go to such great lengths to worship such as cramming into small apartments to have church and to worship. It is good to know that the Christian faith is still growing strong even though this is something that is frowned upon by the Chinese communist government. While reading this article the bible verse Matthew 5:10-12 came to mind, “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you” It is so touching and encouraging to see that the Christians in China are truly living by this verse daily as they worship God in a place that doesnt agree with their beliefs.
