REFLECTIVE WRITING                                Of Love and its consequences                                                This story is about two lovers Albert and Victoria, who were separated by a large hot desert. Though they emailed each other passionately, it was Victoria who was so smitten by Albert that she could not bear to be apart from him for even one day. She wanted to cross the desert and meet Albert. In order to do that she’d to do something which she didn’t want to which led to their breakup and Albert getting beaten up by George on Victoria’s request. This is a something which has become very commonplace in today’s world. Breakups happening due to the lamest reasons. People have forgotten how to love. Forgiving is not an option. In my opinion Albert was not a loving boyfriend. He just pretended that he was in love with Victoria. Writing passionate love letters to each other doesn’t mean that it was true love. He could be faking it just to keep the relationship going.in reality, he must be having another girlfriend in his town. So as to have the best of both worlds, he would keep both of them in his grasp by sweet-talking both of them. I mean, if he really loved Victoria, wouldn’t he cross the desert for her? If he had been a gentlemen he would have surely come to her. And finally when she does come after crossing oceans and deserts just to meet him, how does he react? Instead of being happy on seeing her, he is angry at her .Okay, I get it. She gave away his mother’s necklace to some stranger. It was special to both of them. But, he should look at the bigger picture. She took all that pain just to be with him. She had no other option. I’m not saying he shouldn’t have been angry. He has every right to. But he should have been a bit understanding as well. After all, the end matters not the means. What Victoria did afterwards was wrong as well. They could have ended this argument amicably. Letting him get beaten up that too by a male friend may send the wrong signals to Albert and now even if Victoria later apologises to him, he wouldn’t listen as now he has got a strong reason to break up with her. Victoria has added fuel to the fire. And now they would never be able to reconcile their differences as both of their egos have gotten hurt. And when that happens, pride takes over. Nobody wants to be the first one to apologise. The following quote in Bible from 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 sums up my definition of true love. It says,” Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”Albert and Victoria were both wrong in what they did. Albert was neither patient nor kind in dealing with Victoria. Instead, he got easily angered. Victoria delighted in evil when she saw Albert getting beaten up. If she truly loved him she would have felt pain after seeing him getting beaten up and told George to stop. I think both of them are two completely different individuals who are not fit to be life partners and it’s good that their love story came to an end, before things got too serious. Maybe this was god’s plan to make them realise that they weren’t made for each other.
