Personal Perspective of Why I am pursuing an MBA
Why would any one want to pursue a Masters in Business Administration? The answer to that question is both complicated and infinite due in fact to each persons decision to pursue higher learning at that level can list a number of motivating factors driving him or her toward an MBA. More so, its common knowledge in the working environment of today that having a MBA can net an individual a higher salary within the job market. A report on salary surveys (2006) shows that new graduates with MBA had a double-digit raise in beginning salaries as well as signing bonuses. Again, the aforementioned illustrates actual benefits of obtaining an MBA. Next, the explanation of “How I decided to pursue an MBA?” and “What should I expect to gain from completing an MBA program?” are both synonymous prerequisites toward good decision-making. Furthermore, describing the aforementioned will undoubtedly lead to the exploring of the psychological perspective in relation to the critical thinking that goes into making such a profound decision.
Deciding to pursue a MBA is not a simple task. However, the reason(s) that led to me deciding to purse an MBA encompassed a number of different ideological beliefs, thus resulting in critical thinking on my part. After careful information gathering of the different Masters programs, I narrowed it down to two specific areas being either a masters in Management or Business Administration. Of the two programs, I chose to pursue an MBA because it will suit my needs as well as give me the flexibility of being able to appeal to a wider audience of employers as well as jobs within the work force. For example, accepting a job offer and having the advantage to command more money is reason enough for many individuals to obtain a MBA. Additionally, in some cases, the mere challenge of higher learning motivates individuals to get an MBA. Nevertheless, for whatever reason(s) an individual can be justifiably assured that the MBA he or she obtain is significant in both the job market and every day life. Hudgins (2006) indicate that MBA graduates play a significant role in redeveloping urban areas of cities into viable and functional developments through the usage of their MBA obtained knowledge. Additionally, much of what each of them aim to accomplish involves community based thinking. In retrospect, the ultimate driving force that made me decide to purse an MBA was the fact, after 20 years of honorable military service I would not earn a salary comparable to my military
