Appointment with Love
I would like to tell you a story «Appointment with love» written by Sulamith Ish-Kishor. She was born in 1896 in London. Sulamith Ish-Kishor is an American author of novels and nonfiction. She emigrated to the United States in 1909. Her books such as Jews to Remember, The Carpet of Solomon, are well-known.The story takes part in 20 century in New York. It has a narrative presentation. The scene is laid at the Grand Central Station. The book tells us about  Lieutenant Blandford and Hollis Meynell who had fallen in love by writing letters and without seeing each other.Lieutenant is tall young man and he had just come from the front. Hollis Meynell is young, about eighteen, tall and slim, she has blond hair. They started writing letters to each other and then agreed to meet at the Grand Central Station in New York at 6 o’clock. So, lieutenant Blandford was waiting for his love and it was six minutes to six.Everything was started from the book « Of Human Bondage», which he borrowed from the army library. He saw notes in woman’s writing and they were so profound and understanding that lieutenant decided to write that woman. They had writing for a long time but the girl always refused to send him her photograph.  She said « When you come to New York, you shell see me and then you shall make your decision». They agreed that she would wearing a little red rose in her suit lapel. And then, lieutenant Blandford was waiting for her and looking for the red rose. The young woman was coming toward him and she was so beautiful and she was wearing a red flower but…it wasn’t the red rose. Later he saw the woman who was wearing the red rose. That woman was standing almost directly behind the girl. She was past thirty, more than plump and she has graying hair. Lieutenant Blandford didn’t hesitate. He suggested a dinner to her with him, because he felt rare than love, he felt a friendship for which he had been and must ever be grateful.
