2. John Lennon, “Do It for Me” by Sibelius and Catherynne Campbell “Hello, John.” I think I’ve said it one time before and I’ll say it again for sure. Sibelius asked me a bit about my early days on the left before becoming the lead singer of the Beatles. I think you can say that I like the song as much as I like playing other songs I love. Sibelius asked me if I thought the song would grow into a classic while I still had that early career as an artist. My answer was yes! With a bit of creativity and a lot of money Sibelius decided to add that song to my resume and I would add it to my resume until it turned out to be “Downtown” by Sibelius and Catherynne Campbell… the album was out with a big, huge success and came out in 2010… I think we all can be so proud of Sibelius… the album’s sold over 1.000 thousand. It’s the biggest album of your career, and the second largest ever with more than 20 million copies sold. As far as the soundtrack goes, with the first of those records, he has a whole world of musical influences to work with. I’ve sung along with all those influences and some of my best songs… I love it and I think it’s been amazing to be part of his world. I love that people are doing it and it was the biggest concert I could ever participate in… to be the biggest concert in the world… what an incredible experience! Sibelius is a fantastic and great musician. He’s really a very personal person to me. From the moment we sat down to the time we got together, he seemed very interested in what we were doing. Just from the beginning he was very open and very interested in what it meant to have another opportunity to make music. When he asked me if we should do a new record together I said I’d make that choice. He couldn’t see a reason to do either of those things, so he told me that he wants to become an artist himself and give something back for everybody. He was very open about his family and it was great to see the way he touched me for the first time, even if he never said what he was going to do. But after a few months I asked him for more specifics. It wasn’t something that I would ever say, but I thought to myself “Maybe this is a good time for him to do something.” He asked for more of what we did and I loved it. For the rest of his career, I went to places and concerts and he wanted to continue making music. He didn’t necessarily want to go back to that before making a record… I don’t wish it on him… but if I remember correctly, there were many years that I had a hard time getting to know my fans around us. His decision was very important because that was his world he was
Maxs childhood was one that adults of today would love to have. Beginning in Germany crossing to China, Tibet, Israel and France before his final stop which would be America. While he was living in Shanghai, China he was living in a pagoda house. One side of the house was a Buddhist Monastery and the other side was a Sikh Temple. In the morning he would watch the Buddhist monks paint and in the evening he would listen to the prayers being sung by the Sikh. His mother was a fashion designer and recognizing her sons talent she would leave multiple art supplies on each of the balconies in the pagoda house.
His future went on as his family moved to Haifa, Israel. While there, he studied with Austrian expressionist, Professor Honik. Studying paintings and drawings he took time out to visit Mt. Carmel which brought back his interest for astronomy. With this his parents enrolled him in an astronomy class at Technion Institute. Learning about the wonders of the universe was something he thought of as a child. He became so infatuated with this subject that he studied both art and astronomy at the same time. To this day he still implements astronomic elements in his work.
Max got his first job by Riverside Records creating creating cover art for them. Doing this it helped his fascination with astronomy. Over the past few decades Max has painted 6 presidents including Obama. He also carved a 7000 pound section of the Berlin Wall into a three-dimensional dove. Today he lives in New York with his wife. He is also an environmentalist and does work with human rights and animal rights.Still with modern times, Max even has an iPhone application.
