Anne Curtis: Why So Popular
ANNE CURTIS-SMITH is popularly known as Anne Curtis in the Philippine show business. She was born to a Filipino mother and an Australian father on February 17, 1985. She was discovered when she was only 12 years old when her family was on a vacation, which started her career.
Her first role is a princess in the movie Magic Kingdom. After that, she okayed supporting roles in several shows in GMA, which are TGIS, Ikaw na Sana as Jasmine, and Beh Bote Nga as Genie Fer.
In 2004, Anne transferred to ABS-CBN and gave her a more mature and lead role in the teleserye Hiram.
In 2005, she had her first major lead role in the fantasy soap opera Kampanerang Kuba that was inspired by the 1973 film with the same title which Vilma Santos as the Kampanerang Kuba. In the same year she hosted the reality show Qpids together with her best friend Luis Manzano.
In 2006, Anne got her first lead role in the movie All About Love, a three part movie under Star Cinema together with some of ABS-CBNs big stars John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, Luis Manzano, Angelica Panganiban, and Jason Abalos. Also in the same year, Anne had another movie also under Star Cinema, entitled Wag Kang Lilingon which she played the role of a psycho killer nurse. She also had her 2-part television drama series entitled Maging Sino Ka Man wherein she was paired with her ex-boyfriend, Sam Milby.
In 2007, Anne played the daughter of Ai-Ai de las Alas in the blockbuster comedy-film Ang Cute ng Ina Mo.
Anne Curtis was paired with Aga Mulach in the 2008 film When Love Begins, and with Jericho Rosales in Baler in the same year which she won the Best Actress Award from the 34th Metro Manila Film Festival. Also in the same year, Anne Curtis got her second title role Dyosa which she had three leading men, Sam Milby, Luis Manzano, and Zanjoe Marudo.
In 2009, she was one of the main hosts of the morning variety show, Showtime. Also, she starred in the television series, The Wedding as Candice.
