Due Date:
Week of July 20, in class
Length:
7-9 pages, double spaced, font size 12
Objective
Research, conduct and report on an information interview to gain practical knowledge of jobs, career opportunities and companies. Contact and interview an individual who works in HR. Ideally, the individual performs a job that is of interest to you â the job may be entry level or more senior.
One of the best ways to find out about a particular position or career field is to interview the person in that job. Because you are asking for information, this type of interview is informal. It allows you to gather information on a potential career in a non-stressful situation where employers can be more candid. The information can help you decide whether itâs the type of work you want to do and whether itâs the type of organization you want to work in. This is an excellent way to develop contacts in your specific field of interest.
