It is a preliminary statement in a book by the books author or editor, setting forth its purpose and scope, expressing acknowledgment of assistance from others, etc.Function of preface: A preface generally covers the story of how the book came into being or how the idea for the book was developed. This is often followed by thanks and acknowledgments to people who were helpful to the author during the time of writing.
Preface in the translation of novel “Raja Gidh”:In the novel “Raja Gidh” the translator has not translated the preface of the novel rather he has written author’s note and described the story of the novel and also described how the writer has written it and the worth of her work. “Author’s Notes” is used at the beginning or the end of a story. Every Author’s Note is never the same. It always depends on what the author wants their readers to know.Do translators’ prefaces frequently appear in translation in Pakistan?Yes, translators’ prefaces frequently do appear in translation in Pakistan. The writers in Pakistan also translate the prefaces while translating the works of other writers or their own work as Umera Ahmad has translated the foreword to her novel Peer e Kamil.
