I reveived my blackbelt in June after five years of hard work and dedication. My parents taught me that your name means everything and you should always work hard and put forth your best effort. Nothing is work doing if you are not willing to at least put in 100 percent. Both of my parents were very hard workers, and raised me to be the same way. For example my mother turned 75 years old this year and had 3 jobs, she just retirted from one but still has her own business as well a part time job. I only hope that I can be at the same level when I am her age. Malcom Gladwell, in the chapter The Ten Thousand Hour Rule, suggests that basically if you practice the skill or sport ect that you want to perfect for at least ten thousand hours that you can become very good at the skill or sport ect. It is explained that some people maybe born with natural talent, you may not have natural talent but if you practice for atleast 10,000 hours you can become an very good, possibly one of the best I do beleive with effort and practice you can become very good at playng music, sports, work you name it you practice enough it will effect how you preform. Practice alone would not make one better but with a lot of practice and effort you can become of the best. I think back to when I was in high school and my friend and I started running cross country together, while we both practiced everyday, I would put in more hours then her as well as more effort. My goal was to be one of the best runners on the team, I wanted to be the best, she did not share the same goal. I in the end I was a great runner, I made all conferance as well finished in the top 5 for many races, while she did not and became fusterated when younger and newer members of the team were doing better since they were putting in more effort.
