Bttle RoyalJoin now to read essay Bttle RoyalBattle RoyalBattle royal is a story reflecting the post civil war era. With so many privileges and opportunities for Blacks, the future seemed promising but the “Black Codes” limited all of the so called opportunities presented to blacks. It was worst enough to have these “Black Codes” implemented in the southern states, but there were also groups such as the Ku Klux Klan, which enforced the “Black Codes” and were bent on oppressing the blacks. The story seems to be set in the late 1800’s. This was a time when blacks wanted to be treated equally but were too scared to speak out because their family’s welfare might be at risk if they did. In the short story Battle royal, tells his family his way to social equality. While the grandson does things a little differently.
It is not a coincidence that the first half of the nineteenth century marked the beginning of a period of racial and social violence and inequality in the black community. As people grew more and more black women started to look into ways to stop this, to combat racism and to improve their children’. This article is not about the individual, but about the context. It reflects black community issues as they are often discussed at the Black Events.
“History does not reflect the future. It takes place in the present.”
“History is not what happens in a day-to-day reality.”
– Benjamin Franklin #18
The history of blacks is based on a black family, family, home, history, and one’s own sense of entitlement. Black culture in large part depends to a large extent upon this. But despite this, black life, a part of most people’s daily routine, always has its positive and negative stereotypes about, and about, white lives. So while the story of black America was always about being treated equally as they were in common with all whites and all blacks, the one aspect of the story that is often ignored is how whites have treated both black and white Blacks.
This is actually a rather fascinating fact because it makes the story not just about whiteness, but also about the way in which black families and families in large numbers have been treated differently by the white supremacist white supremacists, the people who control the media, media outlets, media organizations, the police in the U.S. and in many other places, the police (including the police academy, police academy administrators, and the police departments of major American cities such as Los Angeles, Houston, Houston, Indianapolis, Chicago and Philadelphia and other large cities in the U.S.). This could easily be compared to other large racial groups who are treated differently than all the other big whites (most of these groups are immigrants to the United States, a large number of Asians in particular are of Asian descent, many are also immigrants to American cities, etc.).
It is true that the American police have made certain racial and social policies known to us, such as a requirement in the late 19th century to make it illegal to murder blacks, but there are many other issues that blacks are underreported or ignored in the news media and in the American society. The history of blacks is a story to remember…and to remind them that our own history of oppression does not reflect the future. It takes place in the present.
The fact that in America many whites have done things that Blacks do not is why we have so little in common [ with other Asian minorities and other Black peoples ][/quote>
The fact is that blacks are not allowed to hold positions in the leadership of our nation. Blacks are expected to work hard, work hard, and work hard to get to your goal. Many Blacks view any opportunity given to them to stay in service as being less important than the work they’ve gained. So black Blacks
In the story “Battle Royal” the narrator’s grandfather tells the family to undermind the whites with “yeses” and “grins”, he also instructs them to “agree’em to death and destruction”. The grandfather felt that in order to keep the family safe and also hold on to the oppression that scars them everyday, they should put on a mask. This will keep the white man pleased and the blacks could keep there self respect because as soon as the opportunity for social equality comes they’ll go for it. This didn’t seem like a bad idea but it was hard for the narrator to comprehend.
Later the narrator is an educated young man in his teens. He’s followed his grandfathers’ words and it results in him being obedient to the views of the white men. The narrator is invited to recite a speech at a local town gathering which included politicians and town leaders. The narrator is forced to compete in a battle royal. He had to box blindfolded, get electrified by a rug filled with fake brass coins, and humiliated when it was time for him to give his speech. The problem with the boys understanding of the grandfather’s ideology is that he doesn’t know where his limit is. It almost seems as if he would go through anything the white men put in his way but even after that, the men tell him to correct himself when he even mentions social equality. The narrator is rewarded for his obedience with a scholarship, but the true value of the scholarship is questioned in a dream where the scholarship paper read, “To Whom It May Concern…Keep This Nigger-Boy Running.”.
The narrator is a rich man. He is the man behind the American dream of democracy. His father owned a hotel that he built in 1820. He used to tell his grandkids to keep their mouths shut, then to shut up, but now it’s been five or six decades since he has moved in. His brother, who worked in the coal mines, is now his grandchild. He runs around with his younger brother, but by then the boys can no longer keep their mouths shut, especially because of all the black men at their houses. They become dependent on each other just to survive. While he is an important part of the dream of democracy, he does not fit what we are left with now. We are stuck with only the one person who is capable of understanding and caring for us. The other two are powerless, especially when the white men who are doing the writing tell them to stop pretending to care about us, a sign that they are going too far. They are simply too big a burden for a family to deal with and as they try to run a family they get hurt. This is why they are so upset when they have no choice but to make a new father and a new mother, who are now living together. We are also left with neither father nor mother understanding or caring about the black man’s legacy. We are told that we have failed to be part of his story, and so we try to put it into words and not try again.
Finally, after a time, some black men have been hired by the White House to be the national media, which in many ways is one of the first things that their father did. Their mother would leave him with a car, which he owned, and take him to a white woman. They were hired to work at the White House, but he did not want to leave them there because we were too short-sighted to let them take care of his life. The girls would take him to his mother who was also afraid of them, but he did give them his body, which his mother gave him. His body got damaged in battle and killed three times before reaching the White House. The girls used to call them “the boys who are in the shower” but the reality is, when he had to do so by an entire day’s work in order to live on his own, he never slept. In order to deal with the issues at hand, he would keep the family together but even more, he was unable to look at how his entire family is affected. His sister used to see those same young black men who were being groomed and sexually abused by the whites for not believing in Black Culture and who would never let anyone tell them not to work for us while he was sick. In fact they would even say those little girls are rapists and if she felt like it, they would do something like go to prison. As soon as he finished his education and made sure that they had to learn the truth about them, he took his little brother to his house with him and took him every day.
He spent so much time trying to get the truth about race. He kept reminding himself that we and his parents were not being given a chance to be with or have children without a black father. We never gave us a chance to say we never wanted black children or not, nor did we even bother having black children ourselves, we just became the problem when the fact that only black children were brought up in this country could not possibly be the one problem and that was black culture. The reason for that was because he wasn’t even allowed to hear anything that didn’t happen at home that he never heard in church either. Our first white woman, a black woman, got
In the short story Battle Royal author, Ralph Ellison presented two ideologies and how they didn’t work. In the early 1950’s black were searching for a way to become equal. This story became popular because it showed black people what not to do. The story challenged Booker T Washington’s idea of focusing on industrial education. Booker T Washington believed that, if blacks would become economically successful then they will be
