Myspace – a Place to Advertise Sex?Essay title: Myspace – a Place to Advertise Sex?MySpace a Place to Advertise Sex?In the Article “MySpace Isnt for Advertisers, Its for Sex” by Pesach Lattin he states that he and parents feel all users on MySpace are all vulnerable targets to get raped, that MySpace is a “sex-finder” website that is unsafe for children and that the website is a perfect trap to catch kids at parties and they feel that classifying yourself as a gay or a lesbian is bad.
I personally disagree with the article. I feel that MySpace is perfectly safe website if you know how to use it and what you are doing. I feel that if you dont feel safe using MySpace you dont need to. No one is forcing you to use it, and also you have the freedom and the power to control what you are doing on the website.
I dont think that anyone who has a MySpace should feel that they are vulnerable targets of rape. I think that children and all users should know whom they are talking to and not just be interacting with strangers that they dont know. Yes while on MySpace you can interact with strangers but you dont have to if you feel that it is not the appropriate thing to do or if you dont feel safe doing it. You can talk to your friends and keep in touch with family and peers who move away. I know that I personally and my friends use it to keep in touch with people we already know. There are ways to prevent being targeted as a rape vicitm and that is use MySpaces services such as blocking unknown members or setting your profile to not give out a lot of information about yourself. If you dont know whom you are talking to then block them or dont approve them as your friend so you dont stay in contact with them.
