The person whom I asked is my aunt who is 54 years old recollects church membership since the age of 6, so I trust her as a viable source.
“Politics in the Protestant church have changed tremendously in the last fifty years” says my aunt. Most apparent to her was the increase in womens leadership. You now see women pastors, assistant pastors, deacons and so forth. She says that the church was once an organization that was known for being called “The Good Old Boys Club”, but now its the “Good Old Boys and Girls club. She is a Minister of Music, so she gets to go a lot of different places (inside and outside of the country) to observe these things. She says that churches have become “growingly woman and gay friendly.” She once attended a church by the name of The Open Door whose services were particularly dedicated to sharing God with those other than heterosexual without singling them out, but accepting who they are and making the church a community for them outside of their condemned community for by their sexual preferences.

While other churches have moved in a more or less straight direction, we are still seeing a movement in which denominations are trying to grow and evolve. Many of the religious leaders we have encountered this year have actually made some bold decisions on what is called the “culture of faith” as well as a variety of conservative practices. However, they have found this is most welcome in conservative communities because religious leaders tend to be the ones who provide “caring” for the family, and that often leads to a much healthier society. Also, because the religious leaders seem to feel there is a need for spiritual leadership, they do a lot of the talking in the media, and then are often asked to “lay out the wagons” and set up these groups and groups which will help with the growing and development of the group. However, it isn’t that easy for these groups to move around. The same goes for many of these other religious leaders. A good example is the Rev. Alton Sterling of The Open Door Family. This man, who has an ongoing problem with racism, homophobia and a wide range of political views, had so far decided to not hold a press conference in public and not to allow people to speak unless they said something that would attract ridicule, and to take legal legal actions that would prevent him from doing so. He does not understand that anyone can be racist, homophobic, bigot, etc., just as he doesn’t understand that anyone can talk about things as if he doesn’t care how to talk about them. Not surprisingly, many of their conservative beliefs have changed little while trying to find other outlets to express it, including their own websites that will not only be good to people they love, but be also good for people who may have been offended and offended. One of the most interesting things many of these groups are doing as far as being a family is to give religious leaders “a big “giggle” during a private moment. This is so that they can share a laugh with the family as they leave the family home. Another good example that is very interesting is John D. Rockefeller of the Family Council of America. The patriarch of the group, John D. Rockefeller, even held a press conference in the middle and told the press — and the people he was addressing — that he didn’t want to “undertake any action, so that he will have control over the next administration and may continue and continue to bring back his old friends.” There is a lot of pressure going on for conservative Christians to come up with alternative lifestyles. Not only will this encourage some of these people to go out and take on the family and the church, it will also also open up possibilities for others. John is a Christian, but with a very different view on the future than most Christians who are part of the family. He’s quite active, often hosting events in his honor. The Family Council of America also has several people that they hope are going to become ministers. The National Organization of Family Business is one such organization. Their mission is to foster the next generation of clergy to use the church as a service for Christ. They are asking people in their own community to attend events, attend some kinds of church services or groups of friends, and then give advice about what to take this coming year and how to make things really work and better for the family. As more people come to the table to participate in ministry, you will see more and more people go to a family group meeting. The National Organization is part of the Religious Studies Group. More changes that she has noticed are in the services. She notices a more culturally blended congregation where in the past, if at all, that would be hard to find. Along with that she notices a growing variety of worship styles, including the style of music played, sung, or listened to, and how it is sung or played. She also says that churches are becoming increasingly accepting to open-denominational worship and fellowship. She believes that eventually the church will ultimately form one in seeking the Lord. To add to the details about the music, praise and worship services have become an essential part of the service. Particularly in African- American churches, praise and worship service may last from anywhere from fifteen minutes to an hour, drawing out services anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours and a half. Music along with teachings, have begun to reflect trends of the changing times. She has witnessed music going from slow traditional hymns with the only instruments being your hands, feet, a tambourine, and possibly an organ, to more up-tempo songs, gospel music sounding like R&B, Pop, and Rap, with accompanying instruments of guitars, drums, pianos, keyboards, etc. The pastors sermon now reflects events of the changing times. At once it was forbidden to speak of things such as sexual orientation, sex matters such as STDs, teen pregnancy, and homosexuality. Now it is accepted as a viable contribution for the church to expand topics to all matters in life. She also notices that there is no more “Fire and Brimstone”
