The learning environment must be protected, nurtured and in tune with the changes of society. I also vision fostering relationships both on and outside the school campus. The school budget is tied to this vision because the cost of the resources to make this vision effective could be costly. Ordering textbooks, manuals, computer software and programs have to be configured in the schools budget. An accurate budget provides an outlook of what types of services need to be increased, added or deleted to make this vision successful. One possible obstacle facing this vision comes from issues of school budget, finance and facilities. More emphasis may be placed on expensive tutorial programs instead of teacher positions. To solve this issue, the administrator may consider surveying the staff to see how they feel about the dilemma. Perhaps teachers can alternate times in tutoring so that the program is not dismissed and all teachers will have a chance to benefit from it.
One strategy to address collaboration with colleagues, families and community members is to have a Family and Community Night (FAC Night) once a month. Each month the school will provide a free dinner and activity for the staff, families and the community. The purpose of the FAC Night is to update individuals with the activities of the school and to foster good relationships that will benefit the school. As an administrator, I will calculate the amount of funds it will take to host this activity. Start up funds for this activity will be allocated and budgeted each month. This decision-making activity is in accordance with ISLLC Standard 4, a school administrator promotes the success of all students by collaborating with families and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources.
