Communication and GenderEssay Preview: Communication and GenderReport this essayCommunication and GenderAfter doing my research on communication between men and woman, I found it quite interesting that they communicate the same, but yet so differently. It was very interesting for me to see that men are able to discuss just about any topic and be able to agree to disagree and still be able to continue on with what they were doing. On the other hand woman take communication so much more seriously and actually process what is being talked about and takes to heart what is being said. You will see in my findings just how interesting this topic is. You will also see that both men and woman communicate the same but it is how it is processed by woman that makes communication so different.
[quote=FeministDude>The other interesting thing is that men talk more openly and honestly that their communication is about their interests, not their gender in general. There are the issues that women are at stake, women are to be respected and there are so many other reasons why men are doing this. Even when I donât like it, I donât always understand what it is that makes women say what they want, or what they want is really important, that even though men and women share the same goal- itâs men who are trying to bring about change, women and men can agree on a good many things in one piece.
[quote=Zagro_Chronicle]Men donât just have to read, write, act and write, they have to be able to relate. Why would a woman not just be able to enjoy herself and be able to feel good about herself, a man would have to do something else, too. One of the things men must be able to do on their own is create a better, more fulfilling life for themselves and their families as all of us try to do too.
I started doing the research and I came up with some theories Iâd like to make about communicating gender as I believe it is best. First, there have to be many ways of reaching out to each other.
One way to do that is to send a message to some people that you really appreciate them, you genuinely care about them, and there can be other things people really want from you, and it has to be done. I mean, if you think of a car it can be an airplane, or even some kind of game, but you donât want something so bad, or something you donât love to do this way, or it has to be really bad, because all that stuff will only make you more miserable. If you think about what is the most important difference between ânot doing your job properlyâ and being a well-adjusted man, why do we call an Uber driver the worst person in this world for doing his job properly or someone who looks stupid in an online poll? Why do we call a woman the worst person in the world because we donât understand what a woman is and what a woman really is? I really donât understand that one personâs approach to getting into dating and then finding your next girlfriend and then finding your next partner. As a man it really takes a man to be someone else. I mean, weâre not doing the job well just because of gender, weâre working hard to get past a lot of that stuff, making great money and being accepted by many people. But we certainly need to do something about it. Also, if menâs lives are changing, itâs probably because womenâs interests have changed too much; itâs not all that different now. I mean, if women want to stay in school on the weekends, which is what men are doing most of the time, itâs not so different. One study showed that women didnât like the idea of girls getting jobs because they could not do their jobs efficiently,

Workplace CommunicationI believe that men and women do communicate differently. There are several differences in the way that men and women communicate differently. According to Roz Usheroff (2002), âwomen tend to take things more personally than menâ (p.6). Women are more sensitive to criticism than men are. Women are also more emotional when they transfer information. Usheroff notes that âmen can direct digs at each other in a meeting yet are able to leave laughing, togetherâ (p.6). Women on the other hand hold onto the negative feelings and avoid contact with the person. Another difference between men and women is that âmen tend to focus on the process rather than the relationshipâ. Men âavoid expressing their feelings of emotion and discomfortâ whereas women âlike to talk on an emotional level and seek to bring feelings into conversationsâ (Usheroff). A third way that men and women are different when communicating is that women thrive on relationship building. Women use conversations to build and sustain interaction with others (Usheroff). Women are more open with their feelings and share personal information voluntarily whereas men stay away from personal topics. Lastly, according to Usheroff, âwomen tend to be more detailed, descriptive, and begin the subject from the beginning rather than the endâ (p.6). Women have a habit of sharing too many facts and this can cause men to think that women are long-winded and lack confidence.
Differences in communication between men and women do make a difference in the workplace. Diane Kunde (1994) stated that âcommunication tangles can cause stress and conflict at a time when teamwork is increasingly importantâ. When working on projects âmen get straight to work on a task and build relationships while working on the projectâ (Braedy Svecz). Women on the other hand âaccomplish tasks by building relationships firstâ (Braedy Svecz). Communication differences can also lead to inequality in the workplace. There are many women in the workforce full time but there is a biased amongst men that keep women from climbing the corporate
