Do you know the fashion styles of today? Now that the boring fashion styles of the 60’s have almost completely gone down the drain, teens today want to show and bare more skin. The fabric has disappeared and the prices have gone up.
The most drastic difference between today’s fashions and the fashions of the 60’s would be the length and how much of the body is covered up. The fashions of the 60’s were boring and conservative. Skirts and shorts had to be right above the knee or below it. If you were to walk into school wearing the clothes style of today in the 60’s you would’ve been sent home by the principal. For example, teens in the 60’s wore skirts to their knees with a collared button-up shirt tucked in, a cardigan or sweater over their shirt, socks just under their knees, and a pair of Mary Janes.
Today teens would never be caught in the outfits teens wore in the 60’s. You would be looked at as a good-too shoes or too conservative. The styles of today consist of clothes showing and revealing most of the body. Skirts and shorts may be as little as 3 inches or 3 Ѕ inches below the waist line. For example, if you walk into a mall you would see teens wearing short shorts with a tank top or a shirt without straps at all, and sandals.
Some of the fashions of the fashions of today aren’t as different as the 60’s. Today we have brought back some of the 60’s fashions. Teens are now wearing hip huggers again. The flare legged style pants can also be found in stores again today. We have also brought back the Capri style pants from the 60’s.
Another difference in the fashions of the 60’s is the price of the clothes. If we had the clothes prices of the 60’s, then today we could walk out of the stores with more than two or three outfits. An outfit in the 60’s would run a shopper about $27.70. That is the price for only one pair of pants today. For example, at Sears in 1966 someone could buy a collared shirt for $3.94, a sweater for $11.94, a skirt for $9.94, and a pair of socks for $1.88.
Today just one outfit runs a shopper around ninety dollars. It would be really hard to walk into a store and buy four of five outfits at ninety dollars a piece. The prices today have dramatically increased
