The first recording of rap was made in 1979 and the genre began to take notice in the U.S. in the mid-1980s. Though the name rap is often used back and forth with hip hop. Some of those talking will still be talking about Rap as a term that has been around as far back as the old days–when the rap game was played by other people. We do talk about other genres of rap, and talk about hip-hop and rap songs, but when you talk about some of the better rap artists on the planet, we always talk about rap and other genres of music because we have the right perspective for those conversations. And you don’t want to talk about things that are “oppressive.”We just talk about things the hip hop community has helped to grow with the technology. With this, many young people have come through Hip Hop culture and we are seeing more people come from other continents and the world and that’s just a step. But we are not saying we should be racist or other things. We all are. If there were one question here that would ask your community and why you would want other music to be accepted in the United States, what would be your answer? I am looking to answer that question. I am also asking you guys about other things. What’s been amazing about your work now and what you’ve done? I want to say it was awesome. There are a number of factors that you were able to work both on the film and on The Roots. When we are filming this movie I want you to say how happy you are to see what’s coming out this fall. Rap started in the mid-1970s in the South Bronx area of New York City. The birth of rap is, in many ways, like the birth of rock and roll. Both originated in the African American community and both were first recorded by small, independent record labels and marketed towards, mostly to a black audience. And in both cases, the new style soon attracted white musicians that began performing it. For rock and roll it was a white American from Mississippi, Elvis Presley. For rap it was a young white group from New York, the Beastie Boys.
