The Olympic Village will be situated on the expensive campus of Qatar University, putting the Game Center within a 15 km radius of 92% of all competition and non-competition venues. The university campus will additionally have Media Village and Main Media Center (MMC). These play an important role in plans of Doha 2020’s Games concept. Doha’s increasing importance as a regional and non regional hub for sports, education, communications, commerce and exhibition has led to growth of city’s business accommodation and tourism industry. In next five years, the nation will invest 17 billion USD in construction of hotels, resorts and other leisure facilities. Consequently, there will be significant increase in hotel rooms to reach a total of 29,000 by end of 2012.
