Comparing Two Songs “toxic” by Britney Spears and “like a Prayer” by Madonna
These two songs “Toxic” by Britney Spears and “Like a prayer” by Madonna are similar in theme but different in images. Theme is about the power and effect love has on you. There is similes and hyperboles in the songs.
In the song ‘Like a prayer’ it says “I hear you call my name and it feels like home.” This is a simile obviously because it is using the word like. It is comparing hearing her name being called to her home. By this, it is meaning that when that person says her name it feels like home to her, that it is a safe or loving place.
It also says “I hear you voice it’s like an angel sighing” this is also a simile because it is comparing that person’s voice to an angela sighing. This means that the person’s voice is soft and soothing like an angel. This plays into the theme because it all is the effect the person she loves has on her, that is the kind of power being in love has on her with her significant other.
In the song ‘Toxic’ it says “too high can’t come down losing my head spinning round and round.” this is a hyperbole because it is an exaggeration for effect. Her head is not actually spinning round and round, this makes it a hyperbole.
