Auguste Rodin is known to be one of the most important artists of his time, as well as one of the most talented sculptors that the world has ever seen. He has created some of the most widely recognized sculptures to date, such as The Thinker and The Kiss. However, the way that he achieved this great title was not a simple process. Rodin was a very innovative sculptor, perhaps the most innovative since the likes of Michelangelo and Donatello. The ideas that he introduced into sculpture, such as a unique take on human position and unfinished surface texture, are what differentiates him from many other artist of this kind. Most importantly, Rodin promoted further experimentation by braking away from traditional pattern, which allowed others to follow in his footsteps by studying his art. However, what was most renowned about Rodin is that although some of his art could be consider vulgar by some, he only ever wished to express the vitality of the human spirit in all his work. He was a genius in recreating human form, and in his most famous pieces, he was able to give off feelings of raw emotion and authenticity. The way that he accomplished all of this was though lifelong learning, natural born talent, and a number of unique but important, influences that where present in his life. Auguste Rodin was a master sculptor who was able to convey, intimately, an amazing understanding of human form, along with strength and movement in his work, using the aesthetics of art. This was an understanding gained only by continuous study as well as his unique work environment and relationship with Camille Claudel.
