Holy Redeemer School CaseMy name is Reggie Visco Batalla and I am 18 years old. I was born on January 15, 1996 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City. I leave in Caloocan City with my parents and with my two brothers. I am the youngest. My father’s name is Johnny De Guzman Batalla he came from San Fabian Panggasinan he is a pure Ilocano he is an Employee at St. Luke’s and my mother’s name is Divina Visco Batalla she came from Mangkayan Benguet in Baguio City she is an Igorota she is a housewife and she make pastry for her business. And my two brothers are John Mark and Melvin Batalla our age gap is 2 years and they are now High schools.
When I am 4 years old my mother teach me the how to read abakada, alphabet, and how to count. She also teaches me how to write my name, and I remember when she was teaching me how to write my name the blue, red blue pattern. When I was 5 years old my mom enrolled me in Kinder at Angelus Day care Center. And I graduated as a salutatorian of our class. When I am 6 years old my mom enrolled me in public school at Urduja Elementary School near to our Barangay. I feel nervous at my first day because we are 65 in a class and my classmates are bigger than me. I thought they are bully but I am wrong they are so nice and friendly to me maybe because I belong to the section 1 which are the students are well discipline compare to the other section. When I am grade 6 I am upset because my teacher in grade 5 move me in the lower section which is section 6 the 2nd to the last section. And I ask her why? Is there something wrong about my grades? Then she answered me no we decided to mix all the students who are good enough and who are need an attention and discipline. And I accept it and I just enjoy my last year of being an elementary student. And we built a new friendship because we came from different section and I am so happy because they are so crazy. And I graduated happy.
The next chapter of my life high school, my mom decide to enrolled me in a private school at Holy Redeemer School of Kaloocan just 2 streets away from our home. I took the entrance examination and I passed.
My first day, I have already a friend and her name is Happy she is my classmate when we are elementary. And she and her friend is also my friend and I am thankful because the ambience and the students are good the rules and regulations are implemented and the school principal is strict. We are 30 in the class and majority of the students are transferees. And everything to me is new and I need to adjust. When I’m sophomore I feel competitive and active especially in the school activity unlike when I am a freshman student I feel nervous all the time. They elected as a part of class officers I am the vice-president of the class then my friend Reycia is the president. I join to the club which is cultural club where i and my friends sing and dance as part of an audition. It’s very fun especially when
I have more opportunities to get involved in the club. I was worried that I would make fun of anyone or cause people problems but in time I started a really good relationship with my friend and she is very loyal and she is willing to listen to all my opinions and help me as a person if problems arise. My class is always open. We know and we do not want to forget about them as it is important they know about what is on their mind and we want all our group to meet if needed, especially our students who are very self-centered for the whole semester and can give a positive report on how class is. I have more friends from outside than from out as well a member of my class is from Italy and there is always other foreign students. The school in Milan and Bologna is very small and the students are busy. My friends and I are very very happy in class together and I don´t want to let the other people just feel like they might forget. When I come I can get myself involved, go to the gym or go and drink a lot, we want to feel like we are together and that is good because we are friends so we don’t have a feeling we are out of the club. And our classes are open. The most important lesson would be to stay away from anything that puts you at risk. Because we all had an interesting story as students and a lot of our family and friends didn’t understand that you have to come from a low socioeconomic situation. You shouldn’t spend the time of someone who is not an entrepreneur like me who has a very high income.
(I asked for my account number, and he came up with the password. He gave me an address, and when I showed it to him he left a message saying I could not register for the classes so I told him I will use it for the registration because it isn’t free for my name or my friends)
How have the first year lessons changed for you in life? Are you looking forward to the other students in the classroom?
We used to have less than five students in school but since 2013 we now share the same number of students as before. It is also better for them to be more motivated to learn. Every few years there is a big change in some of the class members. One group of students may get better at their learning habits. This doesn’t mean that all of them will be great. That is the key because our members and other people need help to get along and when any of them are struggling they don’t have anything to do but to learn. We wanted a great learning experience so that everybody can get along. Because all of us have great ideas too. We also wanted to make our classroom the best learning experience that we ever had. In addition to learning, classes were very enjoyable (like the first year of the school experience with the students, but since then we didn’t want to use things from last year’s lesson. So we used to do some things that we used to do last time). But now because of the new learning experience there are too many
