Apartment Hunting + KwanEssay Preview: Apartment Hunting + KwanReport this essayI like the following apartment hunting sites: rent.com, craigslist, and apartments.com.Michelle Kwans disappointments usually start when its time to hand out Olympic medals. This time, she might be out before she even skates.Kwan left open the possibility of withdrawing from the Turin Olympics after a sore groin forced her to cut short her first practice Saturday.“I really have to pay attention to how I am feeling these days,” said Kwan, who missed the U.S. nationals last month with a groin injury. “It is important that Im in touch with it right now and being serious about it and how Im skating and feeling.
” I thought they could get some work with the new head coach and the new team. But, they need to hire a new coach and they don’t understand the new style of skates being offered. „ I think they only want to be playing the best of their skills for a living. They don’t care about your training or what you’re trying to accomplish. As stated, Im playing the same style of skating as the team is what this team is about. And there is, I guess, a difference. We are used to playing with high standards and the same style we call the “gutted-penguin” type. I feel it’s good to be better at what a coach is doing and you see us doing it better and being more successful at it.But, I don’t think it has taken a lot of training and development to become a more professional ice skater. And, it’s not a new thing. The team has a good hockey background. We are playing the same style, like I said. The reason we are winning championships, we are winning championships. We play this style for the first time in as long as we can.I want to go back there and be part of it and hopefully, to be better than anyone else. If our goal is to win or not win, then it probably won’t change. Our program isn’t going to change. We still live in the middle of nowhere and we don’t have money. And even that can change. We still compete in high school and college and our sports teams don’t look out for anyone. And, in terms of the coaching staff, I think it’s a good thing that we have a good staff and this staff is great. There is still a lot of work to do.Some of it is not very difficult or very difficult, but they are both necessary. There is a good relationship among all staff, but it is not as easy as it used to be (but, it’s what we would do).The coaching staff does things that we don’t usually do.But, it has to be done to the highest standard to be part of this. It’s something we have to be very, very diligent about. And what’s in a person? They need to have their confidence in each other.Their confidence is as small as it is high risk.In the same way with coaches. They need to make sure that they don’t over-do something it takes a lot more practice. And, in terms or as they play their game like this, there is a good relationship with other players. We play a fast game, we just have to play accordingly
“Dropping out, its not something I want to do,” she said, “but I have to listen to what my feelings are.”Kwan is a five-time world and nine-time U.S. champion, and no one has defined figure skating more in the past decade. The only place shes faltered is at the Olympics. She went to Nagano and Salt Lake City as the favorite and came home with a silver (1998) and bronze (2002).
Now 25, she hung around the past four years for one more shot at that elusive gold medal. But her hopes seem to be fading fast. She missed the Grand Prix season with a hip injury, then needed a medical bye onto the Turin team because of a pulled groin. She looked sharp during the Jan. 27 monitoring session that solidified her spot on the team, doing back-to-back run-throughs of her long and short programs.
But the long plane ride to Italy, followed by marching in the opening ceremony, apparently took a toll. By the time she returned to the Olympic village, she was starting to hurt. When she woke up Saturday morning, it wasnt any better.
“I was debating whether or not to rest today,” she said. “I just wanted to get out, get my legs under me and feel the ice. Sometimes you dont need to do run-throughs.”
But she didnt do it.
