We have to mention this homosexuality of Leonardo, because we have to remember that renaissance is the rebirth of the greek and roman culture. And they thought that men were the most beautiful thing in this world, and women were not much more than a zero. And adopting this ideas most of the renascent artists were homosexual
After spending 2 months in prison because of his preferences he created his own workshop, discovering new techniques. In 1482 he left Florence and traveled to MilДЎn where he met Lorenzo di Medici, the most famous art patron of all the times.
Lorenzo Di Medici was a very worthy man who lived in MilДЎn were rich people lived and paid
people like Michelangelo, Leonardo and Donatello for having workshops and students, and directing them to do specifically what he wanted. And it was because of people like Di Medici that we can see all the great things that the renascent artists did.
Leonardos most famous art piece is the “Giocconda” best known as the “Monalisa”, thousands of urban legends have come around this painting, starting with the weird smile, which we really do not know if is a smile. Some say that he couldnt finish the painting with the model, so it is like a self portrait, or parts of it. Some say it is a portrait of his boyfriend, but the real thing is that Monalisa is a mystery.
We also have the last supper, located in Milan, now a days we can see it neglected, and the sad thing is that it cant be restarted because Leonardo was always experimenting, so we dont know what oils, pigments or minerals he used, because he did a mixture of everything. Also this painting has tons of legends, probably the most known is the one that Dan Brown mentioned in his book “Da Vinci Code” he says that Mary the Magdalene is sitting on the left side of Jesus, they are dressed with the same colors (red and blue) but in an inverted way, showing us that they were a couple, also between Mary the Magdalene and Jesus is a form of a letter V the symbol of a women in cryptology. Brow also mentions that Jesus told Mary the Magdalene to start the church, and not Peter, who in the painting is holding a knife, looking Mary the Magdalene, because he wanted to kill her, so he invented that she was a prostitute, and Peter began with the church. But we have to stay clear the “Da Vinci Code” is just a novel, and it may be true, but also it may be false. And most people think that it is true, because it is written on a book, but Leonardo besides being a genius he was also selfish, and he didnt want the others to know about his mysteries.
The annunciation was an art piece Leonardo painted by the orders of Ludovico Sforza. This painting represents the angel Gabriel told Virgin Mary she was going to have a baby without the original sin, because he was going to be the son of god. This painting is special, because it is painted in a total different context.
St. John the Baptist has a certain homosexual sight because of the rebirth of the Greek culture, so this painting is really important too.
