Women Rights in Workplace
1998 marked the 150th Anniversary of a movement by women to achieve full civil rights in this country. There have been many changes for women over the past generations. Just as there are many in the African American race that don’t realize what many went through other than when Black History Month is highlighted the same applies to what many of the younger generation of women experience daily as well. There are many women that don’t even realize how spectacular both the social and legal changes have been achieved, yet taken for grant because this is the way things have been since they remember. When you walk into situations that are good the people that have benefited from these changes go along about their daily busy unnoticeable. I am not a woman but because I am a young black male I can understand how you can look back at the past and what a part of your history is and wonder how things of this sort ever transpired. I know from my own personal experience I sometimes get caught up on my everyday life taking everything in stride, living as though this is how life has always been. What I do know is that it is important to know where you came from and how and who helped you get to where you are so that what you can phantom every happening doesn’t happen again while you are busy living life.
The changes that Women’s Rights have received did not happen on their own accord. The changes that we are relating to include those dealing with their family life, religion, education, and employment for women over the past generations because those in the forefront just stood by, but rather because they set out to make these changes for them and the generations to follow them. As with our own children we instinctively don’t want them to make the same mistakes we have made because we have already crossed those problems, groups that have been oppressed in one way or another feel the same for those following in their footsteps.
