Review on Lord of the Flies
Lord of the flies was an entertaining book to read. It was based on a group of boys that have been trapped on an island due to a plane. They are trapped alone on this island with no resources to help them except each other. They later find the beast which is actually themselves (said Simon, one of the boys who is later killed by the other boys). Not so far into the book, the boys go through a schism of two groups, one lead by Ralph and the other, Jack. Forth this schism there is a lot of tension which is exerted among each group to the other, hence the killing, stealing and the dehumanizing. we can find many allegories in this book, such as Christ figures and etc. We also see different type of places which resemble different type of places. For example the island is equivalent to the garden of Eden in the bible story Adam and Eve, the conch, which the boys use for speech symbolizes civilization and so on. once you have read the book you can get a better understanding on what the symbols are. The book ends by the boys being rescued by a passing navy pilot who spotted the fire (the boys used in order to kill each other- ironic because they meant to kill each other with the fire, but it ended up saving them) and went ahead to save them. at that point, the boys broke and began to humanize again.
