…..the secret lies embedded in me forever. (edited)Mystic Falls I was born here. This is my home. Home. I’m home.A hot bath and some coffee and I would calm down, I thought. The morning ritual of washing and dressing was soothing and I dawdled over it, sorting through my new outfits from Paris. I finally chose a pale rose top and white linen shorts combo that made me look like a raspberry sundae.“Caroline! Where are you? You’re going to be late for school!” The voice drifted faintly up from below. I quickly grabbed my backpack and went down the stairs.“Good morning, everybody. Sorry I don’t have time for breakfast.” I dropped a kiss on my little sister’s head and turned to go.The majestic ball of fire made its dramatic entrance, signaling the start of a brand new day. Along the way to the school, I could hear the crows cawing and the cardinals chirping. As I was going to be late getting to school, I took a deep breath and began to walk as quickly as I could. As I stepped into my high school, everyone was already there, the whole crowd I had not seen since last November. One by one I accepted the welcoming hugs of my own group.“Well, now, will you all go to the party tonight to celebrate our school reopening ?” Annie asked. “I see…I see…” All at once, my face went blank.“Hurry up or we’re going to be late. “said Rebecca a bit impatiently. We quickly took our backpack and rushed toward the school building.“Caroline, hurry up!” said Annie. I put the last pin in my hair and scanned my image with an experienced eye. My dress was all right. We were going to attend the party. Annie’s dress was a pure sweep of burgundy satin and Rebecca was like a shimmering party favor in pink taffeta and black sequins.Music drifted out the open doors of the auditorium. Inside, it was a kaleidoscope of colour and activity. We walked into the auditorium and thought we were ready to have an enjoyable and unforgettable night. The band was starting up with a rock music. We danced, shouted, laughed and were immersed in the happiness.Out of a sudden, a scream from outside drove us into a deeper panic. We ran out and were shocked when we saw a body outside. Appalled at the deplorable condition, we stood aghast totally flabbergasted. I wiped the sweat from my brow, even though at the same time shiver were running down my spine. My heart was beating so loudly, I could see a bite on the body’s neck and I was sure that the body was bitten by a “vampire”. I left the place and tried to calm down my emotion. It was weird that the person got vampire’s bite on his neck and I was going to investigate the whole thing that had happened.
It was a fine day, the morning sun cast its brilliant rays across the land, creating a masterpiece. I was watching the scenery of the clouds moseyed across the cerulean sky when a person moved as fast as lightning into a corner. Frightened, shocked, fear were the feelings I felt. The erratic thumping of my heart was driving me into a deeper panic. I had found out the secret. A crowd of vampires were fed with blood in our school’s corner. I wanted to scream but someone pulled me away from that corner. For a moment I wondered, who this guy was and why he saved me. He stood in front of me, sunlight filtering down onto his curly hair. I could see he had a lean, flat-muscled body. Faded jeans he probably had to peel off at night, tight T-shirt and a leather jacket of unusual cut. James, this guy was named James. He told me that the vampires had a big plan—form an army in our school and had already started their plan since 1 year ago. I was shocked to hear this secret and wished to try my best to stop this plan. One day, I followed one of the vampires without being noticed. Suddenly, he disappeared in front of me, I looked for him up and down but he was gone. Turning back, he was standing there and his face looked so ferocious. I ran and shouted for help. James, the guy who saved me last time appeared again. In the imminence of danger, my mind refused to make sense of what my eyes were seeing. No. No. I would not look at this, I would not believe it…”Oh, God, no,” I whispered. Even if I could have shut my eyes, every detail of the scene was etched upon my memory. That arrogant, sensitive, sensual mouth was smeared with blood. He was a “vampire” too! I backed farther away, stumbling as he took a step toward me. “Don’t touch me!” I cried. “Caroline, please, please calm down.” I could react no longer. I could only stare at him with a kind of wonder. “Tell me,” was all I said. “I’m a vampire, do you still believe me?” he said harshly. For a moment, I was silent and said softly. “Yes, I believe you.” I believed him, I believed that he was a good person, I believed that he would help me to stop this.
