Diversity and Personality at WorkLearning Team CMGT 312February 1, 2016Tina EmrichThere are many diverse people in society therefore many different personalities. Reality is at any job there are going to be individuals with different ideas and different personalities. It is up to leadership to incorporate guidelines, goals and expectations for everyone to be successful as a team and as individuals. Some key components to this is understanding how each individual is motivated, who they are and communicating with them as individuals and as an entire team. When a manager has these understandings they can strategically place each employee where they will benefit the company as a whole and feel successful as an individual.Amanda Lampe is a very structured person. She works hard to be successful and does not like failure. Some times she overloads her self, but she will find a way to get through it. On the other hand when she does fail she takes it very hard on herself. Sometimes this means punishing her self to where she will stress herself out. Amanda has a leadership background and will make decisions when others will not. There are many advantages to working with a person who is structured. When working in a group there will always be that one person who can make a time line
and some type of plan for the group if they need one. She is the kind of person who presents her ideas more systematically and even uses bullet points to highlight sub-topics or ideas. (“Structured People Are Good To Work With”, 2013). This can help a team be more organized with their ideas. Working with other personalities can be tough when you have a leadership type personality. If there is someone in the room that also has a leadership background this may cause them to butt heads. A disadvantage to working with someone who does not like to fail is hard because you do not want to make him or her fail. It can also cause someone to not engage in a group project with him or her. Amanda Stewart also works hard to be successful but does not have as much structure. She likes to work as a team and have the entire team give input before she takes charge. Amanda S. is always striving to cone up with new and innovative ideas. She is never negative even in the most challenging moments. As for working with another leadership personality both Amandas do not butt heads. They have proven to both take lead when it is most needed and ate able to
