My preliminary experience with the school systems in the Inland Empire has led me to believe that the predominance of white people in cities that I had grown up in, like Rancho Cucamonga, directly translated to the schools as well. With such a vast region in which it consumes, the Inland Empire still finds a steady concentration of white people in its northern and western southern and easterly parts (also the least areas with cheaper housing), there are considerably more Blacks and Latinos.
The NESB article, which talks about the growing desegregation in America since the 1990s, focuses on Sanetra Jant. This black student is commenting on the dwindling numbers of white students in her predominantly black school. The article sites the increasing emigration of Blacks, Latinos, and Asians into their own segregated communities as a main component for this new desegregation. Likewise, with these groups immigration results in the emigration by whites to their own areas. The article shows that these movements began in the early nineties, which (to no surprise to me) is when my areas of Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, and Ontario underwent an insurgence of immigration. Most of the families were Black, Latino, and Asian, and most moved to the south and eastern parts.

In my investigation I looked at the demographics that two high schools, one in Rancho Cucamonga, and one in Fontana could be evaluated by. Both Rancho and Fontana have similar numbers in their total populations of around 110-115 thousand. Both the schools, Rancho Cucamonga High and A.B. Miller (Fontana), are geographically in similar areas. Both are off of Highland Avenue, and both are in the center and northern part of their cities. However, as the immigration of Latinos and Blacks has taken them south towards Ontario, and east towards Fontana, more whites have made up Rancho Cucamonga High and the rest schools in Fontana.
